Roselawn exists today because of a unique partnership between several levels of government and funding sources. This partnership reflects the importance of Roselawn to the local community, its people, and its economy.
Roselawn is owned by the City of Port Colborne. The facility is managed by the Roselawn Centre for the Living Arts, a not-for-profit corporation charged with a mandate to implement the vision and mission of the property.
However, the facility has also been the beneficiary of support, both financial and technical, by several other important sources. The South Niagara Community Futures Development Corporation spearheaded the final construction of the theatre, the strategic planning process leading to an independent Roselawn board, and continues to mentor the Roselawn corporation to ensure it fulfills the important mandate it has in the community. The SNCFDC is also funded in part by Industry Canada whose support was critical to the completion of the Roselawn dream.
Human Resources Development Canada is perhaps one of the most important supporters of the Roselawn project. With funding under the Local Labour market Partnerships Program, Roselawn has embarked on a two year program to promote the facility, generate increased market share and to stimulate a higher and more permanent tourism impact on the community.
The continuing partnerships ensure that Roselawn will be maintained and will continue to grow in he community as it attracts world-class entertainment, theatre, art, literature and culinary excellence. All of the proceeds from this not-for-profit effort are reinvested in the facility, making Roselawn a stable and lasting attraction and employer in the community.
The South Niagara Community Futures Development Corporation and its partners wish to thank the contribution of the Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing $37,500 over one year to restore designated heritage components of the Roselawn Centre, a historic building in the heart of Port Colborne. The funding has successfully restored the windows, eves, soffits and painting the entire structure to ensure the facility's integrity for the next 20 years. As a site of historical significance, Roselawn continues to be a focal point for tourism, arts and culture within the Niagara region.
